R.J. Graziano: A Belt, a Bag, and a Standing Ovation

A Belt, a Bag, and a Standing Ovation

Celebrating an Archival Gift from R.J. Graziano

Some collections feel like a curtain call. Others feel like opening night. This one? A full-on standing ovation.

We’re thrilled to present a special edit of archival belts and handbags by R.J. Graziano, generously donated and brimming with personality. These pieces are bold, theatrical, and deeply joyful. These accessories don’t just finish an outfit; they perform.

From the Stage to the Street

Before his work appeared in Bloomingdale’s themed shops and fashion editorials, Graziano’s roots were firmly planted in the world of performance. With training at NYU Tisch School of the Arts in stage and costume design and formative mentorship through Shakespeare in the Park, his early practice was shaped by storytelling, character, and spectacle. Costume plates, Shakespearean themes, and a designer’s eye for drama informed what would become his signature approach.

Belts were the beginning: handmade, stitched, woven, and later crafted in leather. Think cummerbund belts, ties reimagined as waist pieces, and accessories that felt as intentional as a costume reveal. From there, the world expanded into handbags, hair goods, floral pins, and his iconic jewelry, each collection driven by theme,  and each medium explored with curiosity and play.

Crafted with Intention (and a Little Sparkle)

One of Graziano’s most inspired through-lines was translating the language of belts into other forms. Rope necklaces echoed waist cinchers. Beading grew out of costume logic. Crystals—always the finest—were applied with a costumer’s precision. Much of this work was made by hand in his studio, with a level of care you can feel the moment you pick it up.

Why We Love This Collection

This donation is a gift in every sense: a celebration of artistry, craftsmanship, and generosity. These belts and bags are expressive, powerful, and designed to sparkle and delight.

We’re deeply grateful for the opportunity to share this archive and honor the work of a designer whose accessories were never an afterthought. They were always the main event. Be on the lookout for more!

With Love,

Daniel
