Labor of Love: The Work of Scooter LaForge

Hello, my name is Scooter LaForge, and I’m a painter living in the East Village of New York City.

Occasionally, I paint on garments and accessories, and I’ve had the privilege of collaborating with costume designer Patricia Field. Over the years, Pat and I have worked on several TV shows and films, earning two Emmy nominations and a Tony nomination along the way.

When I first started selling painted T-shirts and hats on the streets of the Meatpacking District, I never imagined these painted garments would bring me so much fulfillment. What began as a small venture has grown into something much bigger than I ever anticipated. I’m excited to share that for season three of The White Lotus, which will premiere in February 2025, I had the pleasure of working closely with brilliant costume designer Alex Bovaird. Some of my painted pieces will appear in one of the show’s scenes.

Housing Works has always been an integral part of my New York City journey. I volunteered for years at their Crosby Street location, and along with my good friend Johnny Rozsa, I co-hosted an art show where we invited friends to donate paintings. We raised a significant amount of money for Housing Works, and I’m really grateful for the impact we were able to make.

The collection of hats and bags I’ve donated to Housing Works is a true labor of love. I’m honored to have them available for sale in support of such a wonderful organization. It would mean the world to me if they sold, as I want to see Housing Works continue to thrive for years to come!
